Summary:
The AIHW is currently co-ordinating Australia’s submission of data to the OECD’s (biennial) Health Care Quality and Outcomes collection which will be published in their OECD.stat database (in the ‘Health’ domain) in June 2021.
To ensure greater awareness of these data, the AIHW would like to publish the data in a stand-alone report that would provide easy access to the figures for Australia, and comparison to other OECD countries and/or the OECD average. The results of some previous collections have been reported by Australia (for example, here), though the AIHW would now like to move to an on-line format that would allow for easy updating and reporting every 2 years. The report might be similar to this International comparisons report prepared for another OECD data collection.
Working with the assistance of colleagues, the intern would be expected to explore possible reporting formats/styles (including an international scan to see if other countries do something similar), and prepare content for the web report in line with the agreed format and AIHW publication style (excludes data analysis, though basic manipulation of aggregated data will be required).
Depending on the skills/interest of the intern, some basic training in the web content management system and/or Tableau data visualisation tool (which is used to create graphs/figures in most AIHW online reports) may be provided. Alternatively those aspects could be undertaken by other staff.
Expected deliverables/outcomes for the AIHW as a result of the intern’s work:
An on-line report that summarises Australia’s performance in relation to the Health Care Quality and Outcomes Indicators, and compares our performance to other OECD countries.
