Summary

The Research, Data & Performance team in First Nations Health Division (FNHD) is seeking a literature review regarding the data indicators used by the department to inform evidence-based policy and programs under the Indigenous Australians Health Programme (IAHP).

The literature review would identify strengths, challenges and opportunities concerning the data indicators to inform the FNHD’s forthcoming evaluation of the NKPI and OSR in terms of appropriateness, efficiency and efficacy. A key opportunity presented by the literature review is examining whether a new NKPI addressing COVID vaccinations rates could help identify any potential reduction in the risks of hospitalisation, long-COVID and post-COVID sequelae.

The resultant advice concerning NKPI and OSR will contribute to the evidence base to inform the Department’s policy and programs for ACCHOs and other health services funded under IAHP, helping deliver better outcomes for First Nations peoples.
