About

About CitiPower and Powercor:
We’re a team that cares about you and your community. CitiPower and Powercor Australia is an essential
service, supplying reliable, safe and affordable electricity vital for our customers and a clean energy future.
In designing and delivering these services, our people are united by a real sense of purpose to empower
customer choices in ways that are important for our communities and the environment. Using advanced
analytics, knowledge built through years of practical expertise, partnerships with leading researchers, and the
courage to experiment, our people are proud to be disruptive influencers amongst the electricity industry.

The position:
We currently have a rare and exciting opportunity for an enrolled or recently completed higher research
degree candidate (Masters or PhD) in the Mathematical Sciences Institute to join our team as an Analytics
Intern, working within our Network Planning department directly with industry leading engineers and
professionals for a period of 3-12 months, commencing in January 2023.
The position is available in a part-time (minimum of 2 days per week) or full-time capacity.
The working arrangement can be fully remote, on-site in Melbourne’s CBD or a hybrid approach.

What you will be part of:
• Producing insights and identifying opportunities using data analytics and network modelling on all
elements of the distribution network, from end customer connections to the transmission
connection points, to continue to facilitate the uptake of distributed energy resources, new
technologies and changing customer needs.

• Specifically, utilising the breadth of data available including metering and asset performance data,
asset ratings, spatial data and electrical network topology to produce and evaluate network models
(pandapower, OpenDSS, etc.) which will inform the need for network augmentation projects or
demand response/distributed energy resource (DER) management solutions.

• Forecasting our networks’ performance in response to the changing regulatory and customer
environments by modelling new technologies and macro-economic factors.

• Presenting findings from these forecasts and working alongside other departments in the business to
create a clear understanding of both network and wider community benefits.
Working with us:

• We have a diversity of teams across our business, all contributing to great customer and community
outcomes. Our people are our most important asset, and we continually invest in nurturing their

opportunities for all employees.
