Additional information: Interns are paid at the APS2 classification and engaged through Chandler Macleod as a contractor.

Summary:

The intern would be examining how maximum age at death and life expectancy has changed in Australia over time and the relationship between these measures. The following statistics can be explored:

  • Life expectancy at birth
  • Health-adjusted life expectancy
  • Mean, median and mode age at death

Activities would involve undertaking a literature review on the topic, statistical analysis of national mortality data, drafting report for publication on AIHW website, communicating and liaising with internal staff.

Expected deliverables/outcomes for the AIHW as a result of the intern’s work: Short report for publication.
