About
ESBS is a Canberra based Building Services Consultancy, specialising in Mechanical and Electrical Services and Ecologically Sustainable Design Services for Commercial Buildings.
De-gasification and electrification of buildings is at the forefront due to concerns with global warming and climate change. We provide specialist consultancy services to our clients who are Commonwealth, ACT Government and Commercial. Our activities include detailed design of services that include heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration, lighting and power distribution, controls and building management systems.
Our senior staff are Chartered Professional Engineers, and we take pride in delivering sustainable outcomes to our clients, and over the years we have been associated with three national awards for excellence in sustainability. The optimisation of performance, energy and water consumption forms an important part of our activities, and this is typically done through remote access to the BMS of buildings, interrogation of the systems and analysis, using tools such as MS Excel and VB. We also provide training services including 15 weeks at the University of Canberra on Building Services.

Summary:
The intern will analyse electricity and/or water use within a client organisation, and explore energy/water saving measures to reduce cost and resource consumption, without compromising occupant comfort. By the end of the placement the intern will produce a report that outlines these resource saving measures and the benefits they provide for a specific client.
The project may involve site visits to see buildings and plant rooms, engaging with stakeholders, lifecycle assessments, analysis of data and system optimisation. The intern will develop an understanding of computer-based building management systems and how they are operated and optimised.
