About
Sheep Producers Australia (SPA) is the national peak body representing Australia's 20,000 sheep meat producers. Our producers work hard, and we do too to enhance the productivity, profitability and sustainability of the sector. We do this by:
· advocating on behalf of producers with government and industry stakeholders
· monitoring investment of producer levies
· engaging with our State Farming Organisation members
· consulting with industry and sharing important information and solutions
· improving understanding of the key issues facing Australian sheep farmers via media and other communication and engagement channels.

Summary:
One of the key themes of The Sheep Sustainability Framework is enhancing the environment and climate. Understanding technologies to reduce methane emissions from sheep is fundamental to help farmers to know what to do now and for researchers to know what else to investigate. Currently the best we can do in reducing methane is 30%. We need more technological innovations that are practical to administer, working in with existing farm management systems.
This project is about compiling current technologies that reduce methane production in sheep. The student will conduct a literature review, document proven and emerging methane reduction technologies and highlight likely gaps to discuss with key stakeholders.
