We are currently looking for one undergraduate student from ANU to undertake an internship remotely, with optional visits to the Canberra office. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to real world projects while receiving mentoring from our experienced experts. You’ll also be in a position to build your skills using the ArcGIS platform and have a front row seat to how GIS technology is making a difference in some of the country’s most important initiatives.

Summary:
Esri Australia is looking for an intern passionate about the use of GIS in flood analysis.
The project will involve spatial analysis of flooding and community data, and the outcome will be a report and presentation on one of the following topics which revolve around the recent NSW Government 2022 Flood Inquiry:
- Spatial analysis of the effect of flooding on community facilities, vulnerable people and land use types in extreme flooding events
- Flood management planning, an analysis of at-risk areas in the ACT in relation to nearby facilities
The project will involve:
- Training in desktop and web GIS tools using Esri software
- Critical analysis of available data
- Spatial analysis of data specific to the natural and built environment, and how this relates to flood prone areas
- Presentation and reporting using online GIS applications, including building web map visualisations for effective communication
Interns are also welcome to nominate their own topic idea.
